Sometech (CEO Hee-bong Yang), a specialist in medical 3D imaging solutions, announced on the 20th that it showcased its 3D surgical microscopes at 'WHX Dubai 2026,' one of the world's largest medical device exhibitions recently held in Dubai, UAE.
At the event, Sometech unveiled its flagship products, including the 'VOMS-400' 3D surgical microscope series (for neurosurgery, spine, and ophthalmology) and the 'VLS-200' and 'COT-200' 3D laparoscopy systems. The company stated that it targeted local buyers with a strategy emphasizing high performance at a reasonable price point compared to major established brands.
"During the exhibition, over 300 buyers and medical professionals visited our booth," a Sometech official said. "Consultations for regional agencies followed with companies from India, Russia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa."
On the third day of the exhibition, Professor Se-joon Woo of the Ophthalmology Department at Seoul National University Hospital presented clinical cases using Sometech’s VOMS-400 OPH. Before an audience of approximately 100 attendees, Professor Woo shared insights on 3D image quality and clinical efficacy in actual surgical environments. Following the presentation, specialists from Italy, Türkiye, Egypt, and India personally operated the equipment during hands-on sessions to verify its performance.
According to Sometech, contract negotiations are currently underway as a result of the exhibition. The company is discussing supply agreements for 3D digital surgical microscopes with partners in India, Romania, and Egypt. Discussions are also ongoing with Zmir, a Russian optical microscope manufacturer and distributor, regarding OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) collaboration for the ST-501 and DCS-Pro. Zmir is scheduled to visit Sometech’s headquarters around the time of the KIMES exhibition in March to negotiate detailed terms. Additionally, discussions on quotations and dealership conditions have begun with AccuVision in Chile and Universal Medical in Tunisia.
"We will proceed with follow-up negotiations for buyers in new regions such as India, Latin America, and Africa to translate this interest into sales growth," a Sometech official stated.
Sometech plans to expand its global market presence by diversifying its agency strategies by region and product line, while strengthening its compliance with international certifications, including the European CE (MDR).
