Sometech, a provider of 3D medical imaging solutions, announced on October 12 that it showcased its 4K video endoscope and 3D laparoscope systems at Medical Japan 2026, recently held in Tokyo, and is now in discussions with local distributors on adoption.

At the exhibition, the company presented the VES-400 4K 2D video endoscope system, the COT-200 3D laparoscope system, the VOMS-202D 3D digital surgical microscope, and the ST-501 RF surgical unit. The endoscope system features ICG fluorescence imaging, allowing surgeons to view microvascular blood flow and lesions in real time during procedures. The surgical microscope adopts a heads-up display, and the RF unit performs cutting and coagulation simultaneously.

“As Japan’s revision of its medical fee schedule has reduced the purchasing power of clinics and small to mid-sized hospitals for high-end equipment, demand for cost-effective devices is growing,” a company official said.

According to the company, a Japanese medical device importer and distributor with annual revenue of approximately KRW 100–150 billion, along with representatives of an import company run by executives of a Japanese medical device society, showed interest in equipment offering 4K, 3D, and fluorescence capabilities. Both parties agreed to continue discussions on distribution and product registration in Japan. The company added that local physicians, including those from ophthalmology clinics, requested additional clinical data after viewing images from the 3D digital surgical microscope.

Sometech also said that importers and distributors from Europe and the Middle East, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Qatar, and Iraq, requested demonstrations of its 4K fluorescence endoscope and RF surgical unit, and that it discussed local distribution agreements with them."
